WOW frogs!

On Sunday Maya Rae, Carrie Sue and I went to Eco village for the 12th day of Ridvan celebration.
(for info on Ridvan see... http://www.bahai.us/festival-of-ridvan )
Eco Village has a great big beautiful pond. This time of year the frogs are very busy there. It was just fascinating watching them. :)

Baby Goats

On Saturday the girls and I went to the local small animal auction hoping to find a good deal on little goats.
We found these two. These were the last two pygmy goats auctioned. By then everyone was carrying a long legged goat so I got a really good deal.
I expected to have to bottle feed these critters but nope- they eat everything all by them selves. They are really wild but Maya Rae is working towards taming them. They are healthy and happy and active.
Oh there names are Levi and Beaker.

Jody and I visit Keuka Lake

One Sunday recently Jody and just happened to have a day to ourselves as the girls were enjoying play dates with friends. After we dropped Maya off we had no plans so we just drove up the road.
We were way up high on a hill and we saw Keuka Lake down in the distance. We decided to head out that way. On the way we stopped for a walk by an old church and through a grave yard.

Eventually we made it to the lake. We putsed around a little then
we drove off to Watkins Glen for dinner at a diner.
Really good time. :)

Dinner for the bunnies

This is just cute..... Harvey and Pasha enjoying dinner. :)
I love rabbits.

Cleaning up

All April long we have been cleaning the yard. Here's Maya Rae collecting a hundred + pieces of baling twine off the ground. There has been layer upon layer of stuff, trash, junk, garbage and rubble to clean up after the leasers left. The winter months were spent inside redoing things so the house was livable again. The spring has all been about bringing the outside back to tidy and functioning. On top of that we are trying to eek a little $ out of the budget to move forward with plans.....like fencing the entire property so our weed eaters can do their job.

A trip to the play ground

On this day Maya Rae and I were bored at home so we got in the van and drove to the lake. We landed at the play ground were we had a blast playing on the equipment. I eventually sat down and just watched the show.
As is the norm, Maya quickly collected several play mates. Fun stuff.

Ducklings

Six new ducklings entered our world recently. We got them for back yard decoration. Very cute.
Very stinky too so now they are living in the garage till they get big enough to go outside. Man do they grow fast.

Maya Rae's sewing

Maya Rae has been sewing up a storm lately. Here are a few things shes made lately.
Shes made a couple of quilted pillows, a quilted throw front (I keep promising to buy batting and backing-oops) and a great big fleec stuffed rabbit. Awesome!

New Bunny

This beautiful boy is Pasha.
Pasha means "beautiful boy" in Persian.
I saw this guy at the shelter a couple weeks back. I was thinking about getting him as a buddy for Harvey but was not thrilled that he was not neutered. Didn't know if he would spray all over or not.
I went back several weeks later to see if he was still there and found that he had been neutered. I couldn't pass him up then so I brought him home.

He and Harvey hit it off after many rounds of dominance games.
Then they both calmed down and settled in. Its so cute to watch them groom each other. They have a nice big run outside for sunny days and they come in on others.

Science Class for Maya Rae

A couple of weeks ago Maya Rae participated in day long science class for home schoolers about Galaxies at the Kopernik observatory. She thought it was "torture". I thought it was well taught and in the end....as I anticipated... Maya did learn alot. She just didn't like the schooly format of it. I now know more about galaxies then I ever wanted to know. ;)

Goat #3

Meet Simon.
Believe it or not, after all the craziness with the first two goats, a neighbor down the road offered me one of her goats.
And- Believe it or not, I jumped on that!
Simon is a handsome pygmy goat.
We got him home with no drama! As it should be.
We put him right in with Tofu and Jesse. Simon proceeded to knock the others around. He showed them who was boss. He also has shown them how to have an iota of dignity and come to corn and eat out of our hands....and apparently, how to stay in the fence.
Simon is our hero.

Here are Tofu and Jesse in the paddock. The following day they were all released to the big pasture behind electric. That's working out great so far. Right now they aren't even putting dent in the 1.5 acres if weeds and grass. I am working to expand the pasture to the full 4 acres. These guys really have it made. Everyone has calmed way down. Now they spend their days munching, sunning and playing on the rock pile. All is well in goat land.
