Miles

Heres Miles.
This is my cousin's baby. That makes him my 2nd cousin and the girls 3rd cousin.
All I can say is AHHHHHH!

Lynde

This is what Lynde is doing these days. Yes- thats roller derby.
Good way to stay in shape I guess.

New painting

Heres what I have been doing when I am not cooking, cleaning, schooling and chasing 7 kids around with "did you do your home work?, whose dirty socks are these?,etc etc"
The hair is oddly flowing I know but thats because there will be words throught the painting and the hair is a border. I will post the finished product asap.

Grape Jelly

Well with 10 people we are suddenly running into a jelly shortage. We are wiping out nearly 1 pint a day! I got a good deal on grapes so I bought a bushel. Elanee and I started the process of juicing the grapes on Sunday.
Here the cheese cloth is pinned over my giant bowl letting the juice flow through. Looks like this one bushel will yield about 30 pints of jelly.

Sleep Over time

Saturday night we had Alexandra over for a play date/ sleep over. I hardly even saw the girls. They just played and played and played. Happy campers. Maya was excited to show off her new home to her old friend.

Cheese Tour

This last weekend I took Vayda and Maya Rae and went on a Cheese tour. We hit the farmers market first to try sheep cheese.
Here we are at the goat farm enjoying goat cheese and hot cider. We learned how cow cheese is made and sampled that too.
Here we are in the cooler with LOTS of cheese.
Vayda just LOVES cows and cheese!!!!
It was a nice fall day with the girlies.
After the tour I dropped Vayda off at Ravyns to go to the Romulus home-coming dance. She spent the night with she and JoJo. On Friday night we had had the first round of Vayda's school friends over for a small party. It was good to meet some of Vaydas new friends.
Busy weekend.

G I Joe goes flying

This is Maya's doing. GI Joe went flying.

Green Home Tour

Last weekend I spent Saturday with Heather doing the Green Home Tour in Ithaca. Sunday, Jody and I did it. We saw numerous 'green' homes and learned a ton about green options and building techniques.
Very inspiring.

The new house

Home is where your clothes line hangs.
We're settling in. With 10 people in 1500 sq ft we are back to 7 kids, tons of laundry and big meals. Everyone is learning and relearning to pitch in.
Heres Maya Rae helping with dinner.
Carrie Sue is helping too.

Then theres the school work for Maya all day. And, Elanee and Ben on the job hunt. The two of them have been working together to get collect applications every day.

-Update: Elanee is now working for Subway and Ben has a part time position doing yard clean up.

Moving

Oh be careful what you ask for. Thats all I can say.
With Ben and Elanee done with school and a foot out the door we got to feeling that our house was way too big for us. We made the decision to move back to Ithaca. Better school options for Vayda who was seeking a public school experience again, better home school experience for Maya Rae, more job options for Elanee and whatever Ben wanted too.
It ened up that we were unable to sell our house outright in 'this market'. The 3 couple who tried could not get a mortgage because the house was not painted. Thats right.....painted. Not the lack or gutters or soffets or, or, or.....no- paint. Just cannot buy ugly folks.So....we took a leap and did a Lease to Own with a nice couple from very upstate NY. The process of moving is H-E-double hockey sticks as we all know. I am grateful that it is over now.
We down sized immensely. We have 3 weekends of yard sales and donated the rest. We sold all kinds of big things too like our white van.
We took only the bare necessities with us to the new house and the rest went into storage. Just one 10x15 unit held everything we owned. Thats amazing! We went back to the house night after night to clean. Finally it was all done and the new folks moved two weeks ago with all their cows, goats, horses, dogs and fowl.

Back to school

Sept is back to school. This year Vayda started a new school in Ithaca called New Roots.
Maya Rae went back to the home school grind.....if you can call it that. She is choosing to learn cursive writting now. She great at it.
